Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has emphasized the importance of adhering to rules to prevent legal problems and reminded all pilgrims to depart the country before their Hajj visas expire. Penalties for overstaying could include fines or prohibitions on future travel.
The ministry clarified in an official statement that departing on time is not only required by law but also shows respect for Saudi Arabia’s regulations and the holiness of the Hajj trip. According to the ministry, “Following the approved departure schedule helps maintain the smooth organization of Hajj and ensures a better experience for all pilgrims.”
Strict Adherence to Hajj Visa Regulations
Pilgrims were cautioned by the ministry not to interact with unauthorized travel agencies or abuse their visas. Hajj visas are only for performing the pilgrimage, and any illegal stay or unauthorized activities could lead to serious consequences.
Saudi officials have boosted security and personnel at all exit points, including seaports, land borders, and airports, to help pilgrims depart without incident. The General Directorate of Passports stated that they are using advanced technology and additional personnel to ensure a hassle-free departure process.
Pilgrims Departing from Medina
Many pilgrims choose to visit Medina after Hajj to pray at the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid an-Nabawi) before heading home. To manage the large number of travelers, authorities in Medina have set up a special program to transport pilgrims from their accommodations to Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport.
During the pre-Hajj phase, the Medina airport received 719,400 pilgrims on 1,910 flights from 196 cities across 53 countries. This accounted for 60% of all Hajj-related flights arriving in Saudi Arabia this season.
