Saudi Arabia Sets Deadlines for Umrah Pilgrims Ahead of Hajj Season 2025

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj has given a deadline to Umrah pilgrims arriving from abroad for entry into the Kingdom and their return to their homelands.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah stated that Umrah pilgrims from abroad can enter the Kingdom for payment until April 13, corresponding to 15 Shawwal, after which preparations for the Hajj season will begin.

Additionally, the Ministry of Hajj has instructed all foreign pilgrims arriving on Umrah visas to return to their respective homelands by 1 Dhu al-Qidah, corresponding to April 29, or earlier.

Regarding this, the Ministry stated that after the specified date, the Hajj season will commence, and the stay of Umrah pilgrims in Saudi Arabia will be considered illegal. Umrah pilgrims remaining in the Kingdom after the deadline will be deemed in violation of immigration laws, for which a fine is stipulated.

Earlier, the Ministry had also set a fine of 100,000 riyals for delays in the return of Umrah pilgrims and directed that companies facilitating Umrah pilgrims from abroad must ensure the timely return of pilgrims under their supervision to avoid heavy penalties.

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced strict deadlines for international Umrah pilgrims entering or exiting the Kingdom to streamline preparations for the upcoming Hajj season. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), pilgrims must adhere to the following timelines:

  1. Entry Deadline: Umrah pilgrims from abroad can enter Saudi Arabia until April 13, 2024 (15 Shawwal 1445 AH). After this date, authorities will prioritize logistical and operational arrangements for the annual Hajj pilgrimage, which draws millions of Muslims worldwide.
  2. Exit Deadline: All foreign Umrah pilgrims must depart the Kingdom by April 29, 2024 (1 Dhu Ul-Qidah 1445 AH). Those remaining beyond this date will face penalties, as their stay will be deemed illegal under Saudi immigration laws.Penalties for Non-Compliance
    The Ministry emphasized that pilgrims overstaying their visas will violate Saudi regulations, incurring fines of up to 100,000 Saudi Riyals (≈$26,650). Travel agencies organizing Umrah trips are also mandated to ensure pilgrims return home on time to avoid penalties. This move underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws and maintaining order during the sacred Hajj season.
